Step-Up Grant

ASHKIN COUNSELING is proud to announce that we are now part of the Step Up For Students Program.

Students that are evaluated or are receiving counseling services can receive reimbursement for our services now that we are considered providers.

Who Qualifies?

The grant is available to students ages 3 through grade 12 or age 22, whichever comes first, who have a specific diagnosis.

What Is the Reimbursement?

$10,000 is the average scholarship for tuition and fees for a private school, homeschooling options, therapies, testing, tutoring and more but each case is different.

What Is The Unique Education Grant?

Children with unique abilities such as learning disabilities, ADHD, and Autism, may have different needs when it comes to their education. The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) enables families to personalize the education of their students by directing funds to where they’re needed most. The funds can be used for a combination of programs and approved expenses including therapists, specialists, curriculum, private school, a college savings account and more.

How Do I Apply?

To apply for a scholarship through Step Up For Students you will need to show proof of your child’s age, diagnosis, and residency.

Helpful Tips:

  • If you already have an existing EMA account, please click the “Log in to EMA” button below and use that same account for the 2024-25 school year. Families will have one account where they will manage their students’ scholarships, even if the children benefit from different scholarship programs.
  • If you do not have an existing EMA account, please click the “Log in to EMA” button below and then click “Sign Up” to create your account.
  • Before beginning your 2024-25 application, please view the “My Students” tab to ensure all of your students are linked to your EMA account. If a student is not listed, please click the “Add a Student” button to add them BEFORE beginning an application. Note: If your student was on the FES-UA program for the 2022-23 school year and still has an available balance, you may use the “Find Students” tool to locate your student.
  • Apply by scrolling down on your EMA dashboard and clicking the “Apply” button next to the appropriate program. If your family will benefit from more than one scholarship, you will select which students you are applying for as you begin the application. IMPORTANT: Starting this year, a student can only be on one scholarship application. Please be sure you apply for the correct scholarship program for each student.
  • After submitting your application, you may monitor your status within your EMA account. We also encourage you to monitor your email for updates.
  • If you encounter an error message at any point while applying, please clear your cache and try again.
