For those of you that know our family more personally you know that this week we lost a backbone of this company to a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. My dad Fredric Wechter had an amazingly compassionate heart. He loved people, pets, but most of all children. He had a special place in his heart for the Shriners Hospital so I thought I would share a little about this amazing organization.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of pediatric hospitals in North America. These hospitals provide specialized medical care to children with various orthopedic conditions, burn injuries, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. The care is provided regardless of the families’ ability to pay, as the hospitals operate primarily through donations. The first Shriners Hospital was established in 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Since then, the network has grown to include 22 hospitals across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. These hospitals offer a wide range of medical services, including surgery, rehabilitation, orthotics and prosthetics, and psychological support to help children with complex medical needs lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
If you would like to learn more about the Shriners Hospital or wish to donate in his name I know my dad would have liked that.
